What this proof establishes
Assuming the claims on the left, the claim on the right holds — checked by the archive's pipeline. Proof code is not displayed here.
Description
The proof in the paper. Color a pair of index pairs
by the truth values of φ(āᵢ', c_{i,j}) and , and
take homogeneous sets , by the bipartite Ramsey lemma. Pair up
consecutive elements of and : with ūᵢ = āᵣ āᵣ' for the -th
and -st elements of , likewise , and , the exclusive or holds of ūᵢ', d_{i,j} exactly when : earlier pairs see two equal truth values
by homogeneity, the pair itself sees true then false, and later pairs
see false twice. The same holds for the columns. Then the formula , with coloring the grid points for , encodes membership for an injection of
the subsets of into the columns. By Baldwin–Shelah this bounds
, hence the order of the pattern.
The argument is carried out for the graph classes of the archive and their monadic dependence, and transferred to the graph classes used here.
